OFFENSE SHOWS SPARK, FUSION WIN 46-0

On a calm, but breezy April night, the Cleveland Fusion gave fans who attended their 2019 Home Opener something to get excited for, as they handed their opponents, the Capital City Savages, a 46-0 defeat last Saturday.

The Fusion, who were coming off a close 26-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Passion the week before, came onto their home turf with bad intentions.

The Fusion defense caused 5 turnovers and set the offense up in great field position all night. With 12:45 to go in the second quarter the Fusion took the lead with the first touchdown giving them the lead at 8-0. That was just the beginning as offensive secret weapon Daziah Green scored 4 touchdowns including a fantastic 60-yard punt return.

By the time teams headed to the locker room for half time, the score was 26-0. We caught up with Fusion Head Coach Keister who said, “We don’t need to make any adjustments. We just have to correct the mistakes. We should be up 3 or 4 more scores. We’re playing good. It’s just the mental mistakes that we need to change. We fix those mistakes, I feel we can beat anybody.”

Whatever Coach Keister said to the team at halftime gave the Fusion more motivation going into the second half. 2 more touchdowns in the third quarter put the score at 38-0 going into the fourth. The Fusion then decided to put the Savages out of their misery in the fourth by putting the game on ice with the final touchdown, putting the game at 46-0.

Coach Keister was pleased with the team effort and followed up after the game.

“Our hard work and dedication showed tonight. We are young, but we have a lot of talent, and it showed out there on the field. We have a few vets on offense and more on defense. They’ve all been in this situation and they know how to get through adversity. They’re always ready and know how to keep the team ready.”

The Fusion have the bye week but are back at it on the road against the New York Wolves on Saturday, April 27th.
