National All-Star Games

July was a busy month for women’s football and the Cleveland Fusion.

On July 13th, Chelsea Biggers and Veronica Rucker represented the team during the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) All-American Game in Denver, Colorado. Here, first team All-American players from the league competed as the “American” and “National” teams.

The National team, with Rucker and Biggers as defensive assets, ultimately took home the win! An added honor, Rucker was awarded the WFA Defensive Player of the Year Award during halftime.

A few weeks later, Fusion wide receiver Daziah Green and head coach Erik Keister traveled to Virginia Beach after being invited to the American Football Events (AFE) All-Star Game. This game brought together athletes from various women’s leagues in the US, including the WFA, WNFC, and IWFL. It also served as a showcase opportunity, as a portion of these players will be selected to compete for the United States on the international stage this December in Mexico. Keister coached alongside former Fusion player and coach, Stephanie Balochko, on the “National” team. Green played on both offense and special teams, helping bring the team its 8-7 win.

The Fusion is honored to have been present at these premiere events and we look forward to future opportunities like these to meet fellow players and supporters of women’s football!

With the 2019 season under wraps, we are working this summer to rebuild and add new talent to our roster. If you are interested in joining our team for the 2020 season, please contact us at scouting@clevelandfusion.com.
